Yorkshire Renegades

Cowboy action / western shooting club in the heart of Yorkshire.

Cowboy Action Shooting is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West;single action revolvers, pistol calibre lever action rifles, and old time shotguns. The Club specialises in the weapons or replica weapons of the period 1800 to 1899. This includes black powder pistols, hammer shotguns, pump action shotguns, single shot rifles and pistol calibre rifles.

The shooting competitions are staged in a unique, characterized, "Old West" style. It is a timed sport in which shooters compete for prestige on a course of different shooting stages using rifles, pistols and shotguns.

So, come along and meet the gang for a days shooting fun you'll never forget. Bring your lunch and a drink, be prepared for all weather and come along for the best days shooting you'll ever have! The competition is keen, but we always enjoy yourselves in a safe and friendly environment.

Our members come from all over the north of England, visitors always welcome, range fees apply.

We run different stages of competition and keep the format fun and challenging, using skills with pistol, rifle and shotgun. Events are timed with penalties for misses and procedural errors, so competition is personal as well as between club shooters. We enjoy shooting a range of period-style guns with the emphasis always of safety as well as fun.

Please note:

  • All rifles must be chronographed (with the load you will use at the shoot) and must be < 1000 feet per second muzzle velocity.
  • Shotguns must be non-ejector and ALL cartridges, whether blackpowder or nitro, must use FIBRE wards, (21g of no.7 shot is ideal)

Using our array of props and scenery, each meeting consists of a number of stages that combine speed and accuracy, shooting at a range of targets with a combination of rifle, pistol and shotgun. Some stages use all 3 guns, some use only two. You’ll be shooting standing up, kneeling down and even mounted on Ol’ Blue! The skill in the competition is about fast, accurate shooting and a smooth, safe transition between target and when swapping guns.

Every meet is different; we want club members to come back time after time for a great days shooting and catch up with friends old and new.
